The Scenario

This 105 sqm fit-out for the Ocean Village Dental Clinic was a delight to undertake and deliver. The clinic was a brand-new venture, its the intention to move away from the classic ‘converted house/above a shop’ approach to an easily accessible clinic, providing its own shop window, bespoke access and blended offering of dental and cosmetic procedures.

The Process

The planning and preparation for this project had been in progress for a considerable length of time due to delays from the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was a real achievement to finally begin work and start to bring the dream to life for our clients. Once we had the green light, it was all systems go to ensure we hit the launch date, which we achieved through hard work and considered project management.

Functionality was at the forefront of the planning process. As a provider of services, it was critical that our clients could deliver against the needs of their patients as well as providing a calming and pleasant environment.

The Work

The brief was to create an inside space very much in keeping with the waterfront location. We worked closely with our clients to achieve their vision, using natural wood acoustic panelling and muted tones in the flooring, decoration, and final finishes. Bespoke bench-style seating was built, and with the use of innovative sky lighting panels, we created the illusion of ceiling windows.

Before any of the final finishes could even be thought of, the focus was on ensuring we had adequate provision to support the clinic and essential equipment fundamental to the day-to-day running. The space was previously a show-home for the development of residential flats in the neighbouring area. This hosted built-in wardrobes and other features, which needed to be stripped out before any of the planned works could commence.

Once the space was transformed into an empty shell, 18ft steels were brought in to support the ceilings and air-conditioned purification systems, which were sourced and installed, together with state-of-the-art dentistry chairs and tools. Other works included a small tea-point, brand new w/c’s, lighting and electrical provision to power equipment and the reception space, and manifestations, branding and external signage.

Project handover was a real celebration, both in terms of the overall finish of the space and in marking the end of our client’s journey to start their own Clinic. We were thrilled to have been instrumental in the process.
