International shipping company NMT commissioned us to design and deliver the full fit-out of their new headquarters, located on Southampton’s scenic waterfront. As the project evolved into Phase 2, our focus expanded to include the creation of an inspiring breakout space for staff.
Positioned on the first floor, the office boasts panoramic views across the Solent. Naturally, the client wanted to make the most of this stunning backdrop while achieving a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.
To meet the brief, we incorporated extensive use of glass throughout the space. This not only maximised natural light but also ensured uninterrupted views of the water from all angles. Glass partitions were used to define cellular areas while maintaining an open, airy feel.
A standout feature is the bespoke partition separating the reception from the main office. Crafted from slatted timber and suspended with wire rigging, it adds a striking architectural element while preserving sightlines and flow.
In the staff café, our goal was to inject energy and warmth. We created a variety of seating zones, including a custom-built bench integrated into the window alcove. A large-scale map wall anchors the space, placing NMT’s location at its heart—a subtle nod to the company’s heritage and maritime roots.
To support different working styles and moods, we introduced a mix of high and low seating, along with relaxed options like bean bags.
