The Scenario

After meeting and receiving a brief from the client, our designers set to work coming up with some exciting design solutions. We presented our design ideas and budget costs to the key decision makers at a formal presentation meeting. We had significant competition; however, our attention to detail on pricing and design gained favour, and we were awarded the contract. The process then moved to a detailed look at the plans and specifications, with the end position being a full schedule of proposed drawings, a detailed specification, and an agreed price. During the works phase, we maintained regular contact with the client, ensuring that the finished project met their aspirations.

The Process

Spectrum Corporate Finance (SPC) acquired new leasehold office space on the 7th floor of Abbey Gardens as a new headquarters facility for its expanding business. The brief was to design a modern office space with an urban feel to the client-facing and breakout areas, whilst maintaining a careful watch on the costs.

The Work

The brief was to create an inside space very much in keeping with the waterfront location. We worked closely with our clients to achieve their vision, using natural wood acoustic panelling and muted tones in the flooring, decoration, and final finishes.

Bespoke bench-style seating was built, and with the use of innovative skylighting panels, we created the illusion of ceiling windows.

But before any of the final finishes could even be thought of, the focus was on ensuring we had adequate provision to support the clinic and essential equipment fundamental to the day-to-day running.

The space was previously a show-home for the development of residential flats in the neighbouring area.

This hosted built-in wardrobes and other features, which needed to be stripped out before any of the planned works could commence.

Once the space was transformed into an empty shell, 18 steel beams were brought in to support the ceilings and air-conditioned purification systems, which were sourced and installed, together with state-of-the-art dentistry chairs and tools.

Other works included a small tea point, brand new WCs, lighting and electrical provision to power equipment and the reception space, and manifestations, branding, and external signage.

Project handover was a real celebration, both in terms of the overall finish of the space and in marking the end of our client’s journey to start their own clinic.

We were thrilled to have been instrumental in the process.
